Two days ago I lost ten games in a row in Honor of Kings, dropped from Diamond 2 to Diamond 4, nearly threw my phone across the room. Later talked to a peiwan friend who taught me several methods for adjusting mindset, tried them and they genuinely helped.
First method: after a loss immediately close the game and rest at least ten minutes. The peiwan said the biggest problem with losing streaks is tilting, wanting to win back immediately so you instantly queue next game, bringing negative emotions from the previous loss into the next game resulting in mechanical errors and poor judgment leading to more losses. Now after losing I get up and walk around, drink some water, watch some videos, wait until my mindset settles before queueing again.
Second method: review lost games. Previously after losing I would just flame teammates, never looked at what I did wrong myself. The peiwan watched two replays with me and I realized so many deaths were from my own greed, overly aggressive positioning, not checking minimap. Honestly pretty humbling but it made me aware of where my problems are. Now after every loss I think about which teamfight I handled poorly.
Third method: fixed time for ranked. The peiwan suggested I only play three hours of ranked daily and only when mentally fresh. I used to stay up until 2 or 3 AM grinding and got progressively worse. Now I changed to 8 PM to 11 PM for ranked, during daytime I play casual modes and practice heroes in training mode. Winrate has genuinely improved.
Mindset sounds simple but is hard to execute. I am still learning myself. If you are also suffering from losing streaks, try these methods. If you really cannot get out of the rut, finding a peiwan to duo is also an option, at least someone shares the burden with you.
